Report of violence against two prisoners in Alytus prison
The association has received reports that officers beat two prisoners in the cell-type unit. One was taken to hospital during the night.
The Prisoners’ Union has received reports that on Friday 20 March 2026 at about 9 pm, officers beat two prisoners in the cell-type unit (KTP) of Alytus prison.
The reported injuries are serious: broken ribs, an injured ear, injuries to limbs and jaw, hair torn out and bruising all over the body. One of the victims was taken to hospital during the night.
According to the information received, the victims were not allowed to call their families or leave the cell. Officers of the Prison Service’s internal investigations unit visited the institution over the weekend.
